Our name Bear Grove Cabins comes from the township in which we are located. The American Black Bear
once roamed the river bottoms and woods, which provided a perfect habitat. Today much of the wildlife
habitat still provides an excellent place to hunt, fish or just spend your time relaxing.
Built in 2007, this tastefully decorated cabin overlooking our 3 acre pond is surrounded by 140 acres of
wooded land, giving the place an extraordinary feeling of peace and relaxation. Only 15 minutes from
historic Vandalia, Illinois, this special cabin provides our guests the freedom to enjoy what nature and the
surrounding area has to offer. Six golf courses, Vandalia Lake, Carlyle Lake, the Kaskaskia River, hunting
reserves, shopping, great restaurants and antique stores are within easy driving distance. The Vandalia
Municipal Airport will handle most private planes, and also is a source for skydiving.
